What can you do with an Actual Technologies ODBC driver on Mac OS?

All Actual Technologies ODBC drivers conform to the iODBC standard. Any application that also uses this standard will be able to take advantage of our drivers. Here is a partial list of some common applications you can use to connect to databases on Mac OS.

FileMaker Pro by Claris International

Use FileMaker 2024 to view and update data in your database without writing any SQL! Use FileMaker Pro 14 or later (including FileMaker 19) to import data from other databases into your FileMaker database. You can also create a new FileMaker database based on the structure of an existing ODBC data source (such as SQL Server or Sybase).

Excel and Query by Microsoft

You can use Excel 365 (including Excel 2016) to query databases with our drivers. Users can build simple or complex queries using Microsoft Query. Excel allows you to import query results into spreadsheets in tabular form, or create sophisticated pivot table reports.

Xojo by Xojo, Inc.

Xojo (formerly REALbasic) is a powerful, easy-to-use tool for creating custom cross-platform applications. Xojo includes full support for ODBC on Mac OS, so you can quickly create client / server applications that access and update data from your MS SQL Server database.

Other compatible applications:

Xcatalog Pro and InCatalog Pro by Em Software: bi-directional linking tools for creating transparent links between an ODBC database and a Quark XPress or Adobe InDesign document. You use them to update prices, graphics, or product information automatically.

EasyCatalog by 65bit Software: lets you take data directly from a database and automatically insert it into an Adobe InDesign document. The link with the document is bi-directional - changes made on the document can be sent back to the source of the data.

Xactuell by CodeWare: a tool for producing pricelists, flyers and catalogs with data managed in a database. It works together with QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign. The document can be be automatically updated any time changes are made to the database.

DataLinker by Teacup Software: allows you to link data anywhere on an InDesign page, or merge data into a document and into tables too. Once your data is linked, you can update from the database with the simple click of a button.

Omnis Studio by Omnis Software Ltd: create custom applications which can read and write data from your ODBC connection. You can also query ODBC data sources using the integrated SQL Browser feature.

4th Dimension by 4D, Inc: use 4D's wizards to create automatic data entry and report forms. Use the built-in querying and reporting tools to generate sophisticated reports with no coding.

PHP, Python and Perl: popular scripting languages for developing web sites and other types of applications. These languages include support for ODBC connectivity modules for querying results from various databases.

Dreamweaver by Adobe: a web development tool, enabling users to design, develop and maintain standards-based websites and applications. Developers of dynamic sites can connect to databases using Dreamweaver's support for ODBC.

LibreOffice by LibreOffice.org: a powerful and free office suite. LibreOffice is compatible with a wide range of document formats. The Base application supports ODBC, so you can import data from your database into word processor and spreadsheet documents.

OpenOffice by OpenOffice.org: a multiplatform and multilingual office suite. It is compatible with major office suites, and is free to download, use, and distribute. With OpenOffice's support for ODBC, you can create queries to include database results in word processor and spreadsheet documents.

NeoOffice by NeoOffice.org: a fully-featured set of office applications for Mac OS. Based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, NeoOffice incorporates dozens of native Mac features and does not require the X11 windowing system. It includes OpenOffice's support for ODBC, so you can create queries to include database results in your documents.

FmPro Migrator by .com Solutions: converts Microsoft Access database files into FileMaker Pro, including the tables/fields, relationships, queries, forms/reports, value lists and Visual Basic code. FmPro Migrator also converts FileMaker Pro database files into MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle databases for use with the FileMaker ESS feature.

SyBrowser by MacSOS: a table browser and alternative "isql" client for ODBC databases. It facilitates SQL generation thorough a point and click interface. An ERD module allows the creation of visual representations of data models.

JMP by SAS Institute: dynamically links statistics with graphics to interactively explore, understand, and visualize data. JMP also implements a method for connecting to ODBC data sources to extract the data needed for further analysis.

R by R Foundation: a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It provides a wide variety of statistical and graphical techniques. It includes support for querying data from a database using an ODBC driver.

SPSS by IBM: this data analysis and data management package enables you to uncover key facts, patterns, and trends. SPSS can be used to gain greater insight into the actions, attributes, and attitudes of people - customers, employees, students, or citizens.

Cartographica by ClueTrust: a Geographic Information System (GIS) package for the Macintosh. It is used to create, analyze, explore, manipulate and present geospatial data. Includes support for sophisticated layouts, geocoding, and web map server support.

Stat/Transfer by Circle Systems: simplifies the transfer of statistical data between different programs. It reads statistical data in the internal format of one of the supported programs and will then transfer as much of the information as is present and appropriate to the internal format of another.
