Mac ODBC driver for OpenBase now available from Actual Technologies
Actual Technologies announces the immediate availability of the Actual ODBC Driver for OpenBase. Actual Technologies adds Sybase support to Mac OS X ODBC driver
Actual Technologies has released new version of the Actual ODBC Driver for SQL Server. In addition to allowing Mac OS X users to connect to Microsoft SQL Server databases, the driver now also supports connections to Sybase databases. The Sybase database can reside on a Mac or any other platform supported by Sybase - such as Linux, Solaris or Windows.

The new version also adds support for FileMaker Pro. Users can now use both FileMaker and Microsoft Excel to build queries for importing data from SQL Server and Sybase databases. This is an important step in our goal to help OS X users gain access to enterprise data, on equal standing with their Windows-using counterparts. The driver is available exclusively for the Mac and requires nothing to be installed on the server itself.

This version also improves support for international users. Text data can now be translated to either the ISO-8859-1 or MacRoman character sets. This means that characters such as accents, umlats, and tildes that are particular to non-English western European languages can now be displayed correctly in Excel and FileMaker documents.

The ODBC driver is available for $29.95 for a single user license. A free evaluation copy is available for download.
